Position Summary

At northteq, our small but mighty product team is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of our flagship aurora platform and many of our key Salesforce apps. We follow a semi-agile approach to product delivery and release upgrades to our platform following the Salesforce release cycle, andupgrades to our apps on an as needed basis. Our company is a salesforce provider, and we are seeking a talented Engineering Manager to provide strong leadership in our ongoing growth into a market leading B2B provider in equipment finance.
As the Engineering Manager, you would be responsible for leading and growing our team of salesforce developers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the successful execution and delivery of our platform. You would be the voice of the Engineering team, and advocate for the tools, process, and innovation that will ensure the team is working to their full potential and our platform can scale at the pace of our success. You should have a good knowledge of salesforce or a similar platform for development. You should have experience growing an engineering practice that includes standardizing release and upgrade processes, implementing test automation, analyzing, and reducing tech debt to move faster and reduce risk.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage a team of Salesforce developers and QA: hiring staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.
  2. Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment and effective communication within the team.
  3. Collaborate with other teams, including product management, professional services, and sales, to provide strategic input on roadmap priorities.
  4. Help scope initiatives and ensure delivery of innovative, high-quality, scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.
  5. Monitor team performance and progress towards sprint goals, identifying opportunities for optimization and process improvement.
  6. Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance, ensuring timely delivery and effective resource management.
  7. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and platforms to support the development and optimization of Salesforce applications, keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  8. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering team, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
  9. Monitor and assess team performance, productivity, and efficiency, implementing strategies to optimize resource allocation and maximize team effectiveness.
  10. Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating project status, risks, and dependencies effectively and facilitating alignment on project goals and priorities.
  11. Stay updated on Salesforce platform updates, releases, and features, ensuring the team remains proficient in Salesforce development methodologies and best practices.
  12. Implement strategies for continuous improvement of quality assurance processes, including automated testing, code reviews, and quality metrics tracking.
  13. Define and track key performance metrics to drive data-driven decision-making, optimize resource utilization, ensure quality deliverables, and foster continuous improvement within the development team.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) + years’ experience leading a software engineering team, preferably with a focus on Salesforce development, customization, and integration.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and management, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing engineering teams
  • Good understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and declarative development tools (e.g., Process Builder, Flow).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
  • Strong project planning and execution skills to oversee successful completion of our projects, and release of our product.
  • Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Certified Platform Developer, Salesforce Certified Administrator) preferred.
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus, with a passion for driving innovation and a growth mind-set towards process improvement and collaboration.

Education and certifications can be earned in role.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada.

Working Conditions

This position is a combination of remote and in person, with a preference for a resident of the Twin Cities Metro area of MN for in-person engineering team meetings at our WeWork office.
