POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to architect and build scalable cloud-native infrastructure that powers our Aurora platform ecosystem. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing API-driven services, integrating AI/ML capabilities, and building the backend systems that enable seamless automation for equipment finance workflows. You will work with cutting-edge technologies to create robust, efficient, and innovative solutions that directly impact how lenders and borrowers interact with our platform.
As a senior member of a lean, highly collaborative team, you will have significant influence on our technology roadmap and help establish engineering best practices. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful problems in the fintech space while leveraging modern cloud infrastructure, serverless architectures, and emerging AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and related serverless technologies to support the Aurora product ecosystem
- Build and optimize APIs and microservices that enable seamless integration between Aurora platform components and external systems
- Integrate and deploy backend features into production systems, including intelligent document processing, data extraction, and automation features for Aurora
- Collaborate with other developers to define and maintain backend development standards, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and observability practices
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues, implementing proactive monitoring and alerting to maintain system reliability
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and services to continuously improve our infrastructure and development practices
- Collaborate with product managers and developers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Mentor developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to elevate team capabilities

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional backend development experience with proven track record of building production systems
- Strong AWS expertise with hands-on experience building serverless applications using Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and related services
- Proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript for backend development, including experience with modern async patterns and frameworks
- Proficiency in Python for DevOps automation, scripting, and tooling
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing APIs and microservices architectures for high-traffic applications
- Experience with Git/GitHub workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative development practices
- Strong understanding of database design and optimization, including NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB) and relational databases
- Experience with API security, authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2, JWT), and implementing secure backend systems
- Knowledge of caching strategies, rate limiting, and performance optimization techniques for distributed systems
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong communication and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and commitment to code quality and maintainability
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certification (AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect, or equivalent) demonstrating broad AWS knowledge
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI/ML services into production applications, including prompt engineering and model optimization
- Familiarity with Salesforce platform development (Apex, Lightning Web Components) and experience integrating backend services with Salesforce APIs – a valuable plus given our product’s Salesforce foundation
Education and certifications can be earned in role.
